"Step 1"

To start the Volunteer Process at the American Red Cross, all new volunteers must do the following:

  • Attend a new Volunteer Orientation/Disaster Services: An Overview Class (a 3 ½ hour time commitment). The Volunteer Orientation is your basic introduction to the American Red Cross and it is where you will fill out all your required paperwork.  Disaster Services: an Overview introduces potential Disaster Volunteers to the role of the Red Cross in the community actions in preparing for, responding to and recovering from emergencies and disasters.
  • Submit to a Red Cross background check.  More information will be provided at your Orientation.

Unless otherwise specified the classes take place at our chapter offices at:

  • 8085 Rivers Ave. Suite F, North Charleston SC, or
  • 59 Sheridan Park Circle, Bluffton SC

For questions about volunteering please call 764-2323 ext. 373 or send an e-mail to Lisa Miller-Wills, at willsli@usa.redcross.org
